EIT LiQlyzer Acid Alkaline Meter

Typical production procedure

Process Sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is a potent, heavy acid that has a density of 1.84 g/ml and a propensity to absorb moisture from the air in order to produce significant heat. In the production of fertilisers, explosives, dyes, and petroleum products, concentrated sulfuric acid is employed.
Hot sulphur dioxide gas is created when elemental sulphur burns in the atmosphere. To create sulphur trioxide (SO3) gas, the hot gas is passed through two to four stages of platinum or vanadium catalyst after being cooled to roughly 400 °C in a waste heat boiler. The catalytic reaction is reversible and produces a lot of heat. To avoid the reverse reaction from happening at high temperatures, the catalyst tower is set up with alternating levels of catalyst and gas coolers.
After being further cooled in a cooler to around 250 °C, the product SO3 gas is subsequently absorbed by a stream of oleum that circulates. The required oleum specification determines the recycle ratio. Unabsorbed SO3 gas that leaks from the oleum tower is absorbed by a stream of 98% to 99% sulfuric acid that circulates. The required purity of the sulfuric acid product affects the sulfuric acid recycle ratio as well. In order to remove the dangerous pollutants that create acid rain, environmental rules typically demand that waste gas from the sulfuric acid tower travel through another absorbent tower.
The final product, sulfuric acid, is subsequently delivered to storage tanks. If the sulfuric acid concentration never falls below 95%, the storage tanks and process pipes in the sulfuric acid plant can both be constructed of stainless steel. Less concentrated acid is extremely corrosive and requires unusual building materials, such Teflon or Hastelloy, for appropriate service life.

Conductivity Measurement

Oleum and sulfuric acid purity are crucial parameters used to regulate process conditions and protect the process equipment, and electrical conductivity measurement is the most economical method available.
Two conductivity measurements are typically placed, one in the oleum tower recirculation line and the other in the final recirculation line between the last sulfuric acid tower and the circulation tank.
